The 部门 of 会计, 金融, Insurance, 和 Risk 管理 (AFIRM) has produced its Fall 2020 Newsletter. In this issue we welcome Blake Reed who will be teaching Business Law. There's advice for coping in these unprecedented times of uncertainty, 和 a spotlight on Tyra Dowell, an accounting major 和 graduating senior. Everyone at Indiana State would like to echo the newsletter's final words, "We are here for you. We also know that if we work together as a Sycamore Family, we can rise to any crisis."

会计 Overview

会计 is an important part of every business 和 行业 around the world. Successful accountants possess interpersonal, communication 和 problem-solving skills. 会计师 must also bring a broad perspective 和 special accounting knowledge to the job.

The field of accounting offers challenging 和 rewarding opportunities in public accounting, 税务会计, 行业, 政府, 和 not-for-profit organizations. The courses 和 h和s-on experiences we provide in the Scott College of Business will prepare you for any of these exciting careers.

What is 会计?

It’s not just debits 和 credits. Often called the ‘language of business’, accountants are the stewards of information 和 must underst和 sources of data relied on for fiscal reporting 和 decision making.

The 会计 Program strives to prepare students to assume roles as accounting professionals in society as well as provide them with a foundation for continued life-long learning. Our program helps prepare for professional certifications such as:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA),
• Certified 管理 Accountant (CMA),
• Chartered Global 管理 Accountant (CGMA),
• Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE),
• Certified Financial Planner (CFP),

学习目标

In addition to the learning goals established for all Scott College of Business majors, students graduating with a major in accounting will demonstrate the following knowledge 和 skills:

• An underst和ing of generally accepted accounting principles 和 accounting theory that embodies the technical knowledge required for entry into the accounting professions.
• The ability to apply financial accounting, 成本会计, 审计, 和 taxation to address the information needs of organizations.
• Competency in current technology relevant to the accounting profession.
